History, Qualifications and Education
Self taught with the family Poodle at the age of 14. At the age of 28, I
began showing and grooming at all breed championship dog shows; at 39,
after leaving my typical office job, I completed accelerated training at
Paragon School in Grandville, Michigan under the instruction of
Certified Master Groomer, Melissa Verplank, of the USA Groom Team and
Paul Bryant, whom has been featured on Oster dog trimming instructional
videos. I am IPG Certified (International Professional Groomers, Inc.)
for the Sporting Group and have been grooming for the Pampered Pet and
Show Dogs for nearly 30 years. I have a thorough understanding of dogs
with double coats and know the results that regular grooming provides in
maintaining healthy skin and coats.
I have been exhibiting, breeding and training
Keeshonden for the Conformation Show Ring for 35 years. I exhibited and
have shown dogs of different breeds for several years. I retired in 2007
to pursue another facet of my career as a Superintendent with one of the
largest producers of dog shows in the nation.

My husband and I have been active members with
the Grand Rapids Kennel Club since 2004. Where little by little we saw
a need to lend our assistance and volunteer for those things that needed
to be done. I first co-chaired a puppy match with our club President
Clare Lodenstein and soon I was on my own promoting Responsible Dog
Ownership Day one of the things we promote.
Dog Day in The Park was originally a
puppy match that grew bringing some 1500 people to the
neighborhood Riverside Park. Every year the event has grown
and doubled bringing many organizations together under one
umbrella that have to do with dogs.

our
long haired Chihuahua while I am holding Gia-Marie who

I am Chairperson for Dog Day in
the Park, which is hosted by Grand Rapids Kennel Club. I
also served as Recording Secretary and Christmas Party Planner
Chairman for the club. I enjoy working for the club getting
us recognized for the contributions we have made to the
community and Dog Show World. It takes a lot of commitment
to belong to a kennel club and I gain pride from knowing
that when we work together we can accomplish anything.
